I have well over 25 years’ experience in the corporate environment, in Manufacturing, Logistics and Retail. One of the first things I learnt is “understanding yourself” is an essential step, which you need to master before you can effectively influence or lead others. If you want to connect effectively and build a highly collaborative and profitable relationship the challenge is then understanding others, from their perspective and what makes them tick. I wish I knew this at the start and having worked with many people and teams, I know I am not the only one. For me the good thing is it takes time. I try and learn one thing new about people every day – and I am pleased to say the surprises keep coming.
